Good speed, easy setup

I got the 500Mbps fibre broadband. Installation was quick, took about an hour. Speeds have been consistent since then. No issues so far, everything just worked.

Happy with the new internet

Switched from BT to Highland Broadband for their 1Gbps full-fibre plan, and it's been great. The whole process was pretty smooth, didn't have any major headaches. The internet is super fast, way better than what I had before. Feels good to finally have reliable internet out here.

Comprehensive review of 1Gbps plan

I moved over to Highland Broadband for their 1Gbps full-fibre package about three months ago. The ordering process was straightforward online; I just entered my postcode and picked the plan. Installation took about two weeks from signing up, which felt reasonable. The engineer arrived on time and was very professional, getting everything set up, including the router and testing the speeds. I also added the digital home phone service, and porting my old number was seamless. Speeds have been consistently at or very near 1Gbps down and up, which is a huge upgrade. I haven't needed to contact customer support beyond the initial setup, so that's a good sign. The whole home wifi option might be something I look into later, but for now, the provided router covers my house well enough. Overall, a solid service and exactly what I was hoping for in rural broadband.

Great value, first-time buyer

This was my first time getting dedicated full-fibre internet. I opted for the 100Mbps essential fibre plan. The introductory offer was a big draw for me, making it really affordable. Installation was free which saved me a bit, and the monthly cost is a lot less than I was paying for slower ADSL. It felt like a really good deal for what I needed. Definitely worth the switch for the price.

Decent service, minor hiccup

I signed up for the 2Gbps ultrafast broadband. The speeds are fantastic, really made a difference for working from home. Installation was scheduled efficiently. My only slight complaint was that the router they provided felt a bit basic for such high speeds; I ended up using my own mesh system. Otherwise, the customer service was helpful when I called about a billing question. Good value for what you get, just wish the included hardware was a step up.

Hey, anyone know if Highland Broadband has any deals for students? I'm moving back up to Inverness soon.

B Ben 6 days ago
I think they do! I saw something about it when I signed up last year. Check their website or give them a call, pretty sure there's a student discount.

Yeah, they definitely have one. My flatmate got it, but you usually need to prove you're enrolled. It's not always super obvious on the main page, sometimes it's like a special link.

Thinking of switching from Sky to Highland Broadband. Is the installation process a nightmare or pretty straightforward?

J James Carter 2 weeks ago
Mine was super easy, the engineers were great. Took about an hour and a half maybe? No issues with setup.

Depends on your house, I guess. Ours took a bit longer cause they had to run a new cable from the pole, but they were pretty good about keeping us updated.

Is the 'first month free' deal automatically applied or do I need some kind of code when I sign up online?

S Sarah Evans 2 days ago
It was automatic for me when I signed up a few months ago, no code needed. Just showed up on the first bill as zero.

Yeah, I've never seen them use actual promo codes. Most of their deals, like that one, just apply if you qualify. Just pick the plan and it should reflect it at checkout or on your first statement.

how does highland broadband compare to starlink for like, really rural areas? starlink's been okay but the latency for gaming is rough sometimes.

H Hannah P. 1 week ago
Huge difference, honestly. Highland Broadband is proper fibre, so your latency will be way better. Starlink is satellite, so there's always that inherent delay.

If you can get Highland Broadband, go for it. My mate swapped from Starlink and said it's night and day, especially for anything real-time. Speeds are more consistent too.

Planning to get the 1Gbps, but concerned about the router. Do they give you a decent one or should I just plan on buying my own mesh system?

I Ian W. 1 week ago
They give you a router, it's pretty good for most houses. But if you have a really big place or thick walls, a mesh system would probably be better anyway, regardless of who your provider is.

The one they gave me works fine, handles the 1Gbps no problem. If you want whole home wifi without dead spots, their mesh extenders are an option too, or just grab your own.
